Can the telephone interrupt a cable modem?

I have a regular telephone line (not vonage or something like that.) I also have a cable modem with wifi. When I am online and someone uses the phone, my laptop will stop getting the signal. Then a few minutes later it comes back then goes again. Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't interupt the signal but there are two things that could be causing it:
1. if you dont have an ADSL splitter / filter attached to the line the telephone is using, this can cause an interuption..
2. If you are using a cordless phone, then it's possible that the wireless signal from the phone is interfering with your wireless signal from the laptop.
To solve this, you can change the wireless frequency that your laptop is using - have a look at the help files for the router to see how to change the channel / frequency
