Why is my wireless connection low if my adapter is literally close to my router?
I have a laptop that has Earthlink internet and has its codes in it. Since it was running very slow lately, I bought a router to get a wireless connection from it and an adapter for my fast desktop. After I installed everything, my desktop says that its getting a low signal from it even though everything (laptop, router, adapter, and desktop) are all in one place. How is that possible, it should be at its strongest signal???
Is the laptop connected to YOUR signal, or to another one? (Don't guess, you have to look.)
Is there anything that could be interfering with the signal? Bluetooth, cordless phone, microwave oven?
BTW, adding a router can't increase the speed, since the speed you get is the speed of the SLOWEST part of the link, and that's out on the internet. Unless your connection speed (http://www.speedtest.net/ ) is way lower than what you pay for, you can't do anything to speed up your connections to websites, your download speeds, your movies buffering, etc.
